This Billing Policy outlines how paid services on Marketplace Naija operate, particularly for users who choose to promote, boost, or sponsor their ad listings on our platform. By purchasing any promotional service on www.marketplace.ng, you agree to the terms described herein.

1. Overview

While posting standard ads on Marketplace Naija is free, sellers may choose to upgrade their listings for improved visibility through:

  • Boosted Ads – Appear at the top of search results for selected categories or locations.
  • Featured Ads – Highlighted ads displayed in premium spots on the homepage or category pages.
  • Urgent or Top Badges – Tags that draw more attention to an ad.

These premium placements are paid services and are billed according to the options selected by the seller.

2. Pricing

Pricing for promotional features is determined by:

  • Ad category (e.g., electronics, vehicles, real estate)
  • Promotion duration (e.g.,7 days, 30 days)
  • Placement tier (e.g., homepage, top of category, local spotlight)
  • Demand & volume (certain times/locations may have dynamic pricing)

All prices are clearly stated before checkout and may be subject to VAT or local tax where applicable.

Note: Prices may change periodically, but changes will never apply retroactively to existing paid listings.

3. Payment Methods

We currently accept the following secure payment options:

  • Debit/Credit Cards (via Paystack or Flutterwave)
  • Bank Transfers
  • Wallet Balance (where applicable)

Once payment is received and confirmed, your promoted listing will be activated immediately or within a few minutes.

4. Billing Process

Here's how billing for ad promotions works:

  1. You choose your preferred promotion package when posting or editing a listing.
  2. The total amount payable is displayed at checkout.
  3. Once you complete payment, your ad is promoted according to the selected plan.
  4. You'll receive an email/SMS confirmation and your invoice will be available in your account dashboard.

5. Invoices & Receipts

You can download invoices and view billing history by logging into your Marketplace Naija seller account:

Go to My Account > Payments

Receipts include:

  • Payment reference number
  • Promotion package name
  • Duration and start/end date
  • Total amount paid

6. Refund Policy

We do not offer refunds for completed promotional services, except in the following cases:

  • Platform Error: Your ad did not go live or appear as intended due to a technical issue.
  • Duplicate Payment: You were mistakenly charged twice for the same listing.
  • Ineligible Content: Your ad was rejected for violating our policies, and promotion had not yet started.

Refund requests must be submitted within 72 hours of the payment via [email protected].

Refunds are issued to the original payment method or as wallet credit, depending on the situation.

7. Cancellations

You may choose to cancel a promoted listing early, but no partial refunds are provided for unused time. If you remove or deactivate your ad during the promotion period, you forfeit the remaining value.

8. Failed or Declined Payments

If a payment is declined or unsuccessful:

  • Your ad promotion will not be activated.
  • You will receive an error message and instructions to retry payment.

Repeated payment failures may temporarily restrict your ability to access promotional features.

9. Disputes & Support

If you have a billing concern or dispute, please contact us with the following:

  • Your registered email or phone number

  • Screenshot or receipt of the transaction
  • Description of the issue

10. Fraud & Abuse

Marketplace Naija reserves the right to:

  • Refuse billing for suspicious or fraudulent accounts
  • Withhold services if promotional abuse or policy violations are detected
  • Investigate chargebacks or false claims

Any misuse of the promotion system may result in account suspension or termination.

11. Policy Updates

We may update this Billing Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our services or applicable laws. All changes will be posted on this page with a revised "Last Updated" date. Continued use of promotional features after updates means you accept the revised policy.
